I recently purchased a 1990 Riviera with the 3800 V6. Car was a one owner and appears to be well taken care of. Car runs great but I plan on replacing plugs, plug wires,o2 sensor, hoses,serpentine belt and fuel filter as preventive maintenance. I have two questions, the first being what is the typical life expectancy of the timing chain and gears? I know the 3800 has a reputation as a very dependable workhorse.
I priced shocks and struts for this car and they seem to be quite expensive which leads to the 2nd question. Does the Riviera have a special suspension or ride system? Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
