ok i own a 1970 buick skylark, and i am having problems with it, let you know im not the most prefession in knowoing how to fix things in my car. my problem with my car is when i try and start it, it sounds like it wants to start and and just keeps makinga sound like the battery is going dead, it has a brand new battery( cheap kind though, but brand new) and i can start the car after battery cables have been charged through out for a couple of minutes, but once i take those cables off, the car dies. they say its the alternator, i think it something to do with the carburator, cause it may be a little dirty, i have checked all gas lines, those are good from the carb section. im asking any of you guys if you can help me cause i dont want to go buy some parts for me car and thats not what the problem was. i want to fix it first try, i dont have the money to put it into shop and wait for a week for it to get out. i know the problem i have is very minor and would like for a response please

also there is another problem, if you are looking at the engine front vierw overhead, ok there is a part on the left side of the block, , it leaks a little bit of gas, im not sure what part that is and if its just a hose or what, can any of you guys give me full details on fixing my car fast.

Hi rxr!!
First of all, take your car to Autozone (if possible) and have them check to see if your alternator is putting out. It sounds like your alternator IS shot or possibly a bad connection somewhere. Anyway I'd have it checked by driving or uninstalling it and having it checked. Almost ALL auto parts places now have free checks for them! Also sound s like you are looking at your fuel pump! Also a good idea to have someone give you an idea of whats happening there and possibly will not cost too much! It's a vital part to keep your Buick alive and kicking and a neccessary cost of maintenance to boot! No matter the cost, the car will give you fits or will not run at all until it's remedied anyway! Or possibly could be as simple as a loose hose on lines?!! Really couldn't say for sure unless I see for myself! Ya know what I'm saying! LOL!!!
Hope this helps some and Good Luck in getting it back to good running order soon!!
