I have a 72 Buick Skylark, 350, 4BBL. My problem is that it seems I'm losing at least a quart of oil during a month. I know it's not because of a leak. The car smokes just a bit (light blue), but nothing major. I have noticed that when I remove the spark plugs, there's oil on the threads. Could this mean my rings are shot or I'm using the wrong oil? I'm using 10W-30. What's the right oil for this engine?

Any help would be appreciated.

If it's not leaking it, it must be burning it. Using 30W instead of 10-30W might help, but you probably won't notice the difference.

You might want to try things like a compression test.

Good luck

Thanks Bob.

I know a leak isn't the problem. I figured it would smoke a lot more if I'm buring a lot of oil. I'll try the compression test and get back to you/everyone.
