Hello I put a 455 and a th400 in my 69 buick skylark the tranny has a two wire connector. A friend of mine gave me a kickdown switch that goes on the gas pedal That has a yellow wire and a black with white stripe. Also a vacum drum with three nipples for hoses that has a two wire connector on it. How do I hook this up and do I need all these parts. Is there a site where I can find out how to wire this. Is it electrical or does it work on vacum.

All help will be welcomed graemlins/shield.gif

I wonder if that is a switch-pitch transmission- most TH400s only have a kickdown solenoid connection, but if you have a 2-wire connector then you might have a switch-pitch.

Anyhow, I am pretty sure that the bottom (vertical) prong is for the kickdown solenoid, and the top one is to put the tranny in high-stall.

When you apply 12V to each terminal, it will activate its respective solenoid. Therefore I would wire as follows:

o +12V source to the gas pedal switch, connected to the kickdown solenoid

o Brakelight (or +12V to a manual switch) connected to the switch-pitch prong

(If you want to use the brakelight and the switch, be sure to use a diode so the brakelight doesn't come on when you turn on the switchpitch)
