I have checked every auto shop from home to work that is on my drive and know I am trying the internet, and I can not find a manual for a 77 Skylark, is it under another heading or grouped with other cars.

I really would like to find one so I can get serious about working on my car, I had it for 2-weeks know and it would be a great help.

If you know were to find one or under what heading to look I would really appreciate it.

Thanks so much for your time.

Go to

http://www.buicks.net/store/index.shtml

and click on the "Books for Cars" link and find your way to the Buick section. They appear to have what you want.

I do have a question, I was in the library today and saw in a manual that from 1971 on all GM's came with an Altinator. If that is the case any reason the trouble lite on the dash says GEN? Was GM pinching pennies and didn't want to the the letters from GEN to ALT.....

Don,
Depending on how "technical" you want to get, it is actually an alternating current generator with a diode pack to convert the AC to DC. So generator really is a correct description. I don't know how or why the term "alternator" came about, probably just easier to say and it caught on ?

I live in Southern California, Lakewood, California to be exact.

I have a 77 Skylark with a 231 V6 Auto and I would like to change the motor in it. I am looking for(at a resonable cost) a 350 motor complete that might need a rebuild.

If anyone out there might have any ideas were to locate one in the area, I would be interested in reading your suggestions. I know I can bolt my trans to one and I have seen an adaptor plate if I need one to put in a 350, and I would also be interested in a 283 or 327 if there is a way to adapt my trans to it?

I am looking to inprove performance but I don't want to do a lot of modifications to install it. So if you have any suggestions, tips on insight on this I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks

I have just noticed that there is oil getting into the air cleaner and eventually is starts dripping out of the air cleaner of my 231 V6, does any one know what is the cause of that. I have checked the oil and its down about a 1/4 to 1/2 quart.

It just started about 3 days ago, I started to smell oil burning and seen a small puddle under the left front of the car. When I opened the hood, I seen that oil was dripping from the spout of the air cleaner. I took the top off and removed the filter and found oil on the filter and it is puddling into the air cleaner. What would be the cause, I really need to get this fixed. Please Help.....
