Folks:

I have owned a 1971 Skylark GS for many years. She's a fine car. I presently have 14" Buick Rallye wheels. Can I put a bigger tire and wheel combination on her? Coker Tire offers a very cool redline tire. I know that it's not stock, however, I'd like to go to a bigger tire in a redline. Does ayone happen to know how big I can go before I run into problems with them fitting. Please advise. Thank you. Ned, Houston, Texas

you could probably go up to an 18" rim and tire combination on that car and get away with it. My 71 skylark has 15" pontiac ralley wheels on it with 75 series tires and they don't rub at all.
American Racing offers quite a few rims which have a nostalgic "old school" look to them in sizes ranging from 15" up to 20". If you can find a tire and rim dealer, they should be able to answer all your questions.

If you want to keep the original look for your Buick, you can put on the 15 inch wheels from the GS. I have 275X60X 15 tires on the rear and 235X70X15 on the front of my 72 and they fit just fine. I don't think you can go too much bigger as they fill the wheel well pretty good.
