Can anyone direct me to a website or other resource that could guide me how to wire up my engine properly? I can barely make any sense of the mess that came with the car and I know just by looking at it, the previous owner had done major "modification" for whatever reason. I've got the starting circuit hooked up, however the distributor is not getting any power (it's an HEI system) and the charging cicuits are indiscernable from everything else.
The car is a 71 skylark, but it was re-wired for an 85 305 engine when the original 350 blew up.
I would appreciate any advice you guys can give me!!

Thanks!

I believe that Year One sells wiring diagrams for that car- if you have that much chaos, I think it would be a good idea to purchase a wiring diagram.

Thanks for that referal, I'll probably have to buy it, but just to get me going right now, does anyone know how i should get power to the HEI coil? Can i just run a wire from the battery to the [BAT] terminal on the coil or does it have to be switched, on a relay or wired into another circuit?

Run a wire from the fuse panel that is hot only when the key is on, or you will not be able to shut the engine off.
