Can a solid cam replace a hydraulic cam without changing lifters ? and what is the major difference between the two.

Thanks BillK 01-21-2004, 10:44 PM E, (name ???) You cannot run solid lifters on a hydraulic camshaft. The lobe geometry is different on the solids and can cause problems if there is no initial "lash" in the system. Also, you have to change lifters when changine camshafts. The lifters "mate" to the cam when running and if you put old lifters on a new cam, you will ruin the new camshaft 99.9% of the time.
