Hello-

I'm getting ready to install a new windshield on a 63 Special and wanted to get some advice from anyone out there who has done this job before.

My main question involves removing the chrome trim. How is this stuff attached? Do I need any special tools to get it off? Any hints or advice?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I took the trim off my 65 Skylark with a v shaped trim remover tool. You could use a blade though. The trim has clips on the underside which attach in the corners and every 8 inches or so. Get a blade under it and slide it up carefully. Be careful not to kink it.

Make sure you mark which piece went where - I've got a pile of chrome trip I'll have to play jigsaw with to work out where each one goes.

As for the windshield - it's just glued in so a cheesewire or a knife should do it.
I'm planing on removing both screens over Easter to fix the rot in the bottom corners of the windshield and centre top of the backlight.
However I'm having a local window man come and take them out for me. Really to save some time and just so I don't mess up and crack them!
