Hello everyone,
Well,I finally picked up my partially assembled 264.I've started cleaning & tearing down my rocker shafts so I can install the new arms.Is there a specific procedure for installing new hydraulic lifters,or do I just push them in?Thanks in advance for your anticipated responses.

Is the cam or lifter new or reground?

If not, test fit, they should drop in and pull out without resistance. If all feels good, wipe the bottom of them with some good grease or assembly lube and put a film of engine oil on the out side then drop them in.

Normally good practice is to keep the lifter matched with the cam lobe when removing and replacing lifters. If this hasn't been done, resurfacing the lifters would probably be "best practice". You can tell if the lifters have been resurface by looking at the bottom. You will see a machining pattern spiraling around from the center.

Thanks Bob,
The camshaft is new as are the lifters.I'm just wondering if I have to line something up to get all of the new lifters in.

No, the lifters just drop in. New cams and lifters usually come with the manufactures recommended grease.
