Anyone got a lead on where i can get parts for the synchromesh tranny here in southern california?

Try California Transmission Rebuilders. They're in Torrance. They rebuild antique transmissions and have a ton of parts and used trannys for sell. They aren't cheap, though. Here's the link (ask for Gil):
