I'm rebuilding the whole front end on my model 48 (got sick & tired of it wandering all over the road) and I need the upper & lower inner control arm shafts & bushings or at least the bushings There's a part's house in my city that's been in business for decades and still has some old suspension stuff in their attic, but nobody knows where the old catalogs are and the boxes are marked only with the manufacturer's number.

Does anybody here have either a McQuay-Norris or a Toledo catalog which would give the mfgr's part number for both the upper & lower control arm shaft assemblies for a '55? Actually, from what I've read, the upper inner shaft was used from '54-'56 and the lower inner shaft was used from '46-'56.

If it helps any, I found a Moog catalog which lists their part numbers for the assemblies as K-241 (upper) and K-80 (lower).

If anyone knows where I could buy just the bushings (lower - Buick p/n 6.169 / 1182492, used on all models, 1940-'60); (Upper 6.178 / 1193954, 1954-'60) that would also do the trick.

Any help you could give me would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks & Happy Holidays to all,
-Bob

you can try www.rareparts.com (http://www.rareparts.com)
but i think they are still wholesale (do not sell to the public), you can have a shop order them for you.

Dan,
Thanks for the info. They do have the shafts, but at $570 for (4) shafts & bushings, it's a little too rich for this 'ole boy's blood!! :(

The parts house that has the old stock, only gets about $25 / shaft & bushing, so if I can identify the part numbers I need, I can get 'em and save $400+ . Gotta try the cheaper route, but thanks for the link. If I strike out, at worst case, I know where I can get them.

Much appreciated,
-Bob
