View Full Version : Holley Carbs on 322 Factory Manifolds....

I've had to pull my current carb for use on another project (long story, don't ask), however I am not content simply to replace it with another overpriced beat up WCFB or 4gc. I am leaning towards a Holley 600, but am curious about the heat passage in the intake manifold presenting a problem. Also anybody had issues with throttle linkage when running a holley?
Thanks for the insight...

Doesn't a Holly have a wider bolt spacing than the WCFB manifold. The 55 4 barrel manifold doesn't have the heat passage like the 56 so you could block it off.

The purpose of the heat passage is to allow the intake manifold to be warmed allowing the car to run better sooner. You don't need it, if you block it and find you must play with the gas a little while till the car is warm, that will be why.

As for blocking the heat passage, I would only be blocking it at the carb mount flange. Judd, I'm not sure if the bolt locations are the same for the Holley and WCFB, but I'd rather search for an adaptor than a wcfb or 4gc.
Are there different manifolds from the factory for WCFB and 4gc?? Anybody have a decoding source?

Judd, you are correct sir! The Holley bolt patter is WAY bigger. Width is close but the length is a good 2" longer. Scrap that idea.
Ok so who wants to sell me a wcfb or 4gc on the cheap smile.gif

The Carter AFB on my truck has two bolt patterns I wonder if the small pattern is the same as the WCFB? If it is I bet you could use one of the Edelbrock carbs.

I have the same problem, I need a new carb for my -56 2 barrel original 322. Does anyone have a suggestion what to choose? Edelbrock, which one?
