I've been getting quotes to replace the top on my 75 Lesabre. I'm located in the Minneapolis area. I've been getting quotes from $2200 to $2800 to replace the top. Is it really that expensive? Eventhough I've never done anything like this before, I think for $1500 dollars I might have to try. Ron, what is your cost of a complete top, window, pads, cables, gutters, etc.?

New top parts are priced as follows:
Convertible top, pinpoint vinyl: $130.00
Glass window assembly: $150.00
Pads: $29.00/pair
well liner: $59.00
Drain trough: $35.00
Bushing kit (12-piece): $65.00
You should expect to pay around $450.00 to $500.00 for installation of the top, window, well liner, pads, and drain trough. If you have the bushings installed, add another $100 to $150 for installation.
I recommend the bushings if your top is somewhat floppy or does not go up and down evenly. If your old bushings are worn to the point of the top frame being floppy, you will never get the wrinkles out of the quarters, and you stand a good chance of breaking your rear hardglass. The bushings are cheap insurance.

Save money and take a learning experience while you're at it. Try installing it yourself and if you really really get stuck, then you could take it to have it done by someone else. I'm always in the mindset that i'd rather save $100 and take 4 days to do something, rather than give my money to someone else. I get more satisfaction out of the work i do when i do that also.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
