Hey everyone,

I was wanting to install seat belts in my '62 Skylark, but I was wanting to know if my car came with the mountings in the floor this year. And also, since it is a hardtop, is it possible to install shoulder harness belts in it? I need somthing to prevent my steering wheel from becoming a permanant part of my chest in case of an accident!

Thanks!

Hello.
The car did come with threaded mounting plates welded into the floor for installing seat belts (a factory option) but did not come with any mounts for shoulder belts. Installing the mounts for the shoulder belts should be done by a professional. The lap belts could be done by you; just remember to torque the bolts to factory specs.
Best Regards,
Ron

Thanks for your post! When you say that the mounting plates for the shoulder strap should be done by a "professional", what kind of professional? My buddy is a professional welder, but should I take it to some kind of race shop or somthing?

Thanks again!
