ok guys . here is the question ..i have a 23 track rod with a aluminium buick motor, aluminium heads ..i have been told this is a buick 215..or it could be also a rover motor ..?? well i have finally taken my rod apart for resto and have decided to keep the same engine and tranny as i have many memories of leaving the big boys in the dust the motor ran very strong and i was quite inpressed. i got ahold of the builder of the car originally ( a man named Chuck Finders from Ohio U.S.A) and he told me he got the motor from a friend of his that worked for G.M and apparently this motor is suppose to be a ..(mystery motor).. ???well i have taken the motor apart and this is what i have ..

intake manifold .. before it was grinded down all i could read is 13588 with a
295 under neath it

head cfd 1193741
pm also stamped A2X

block left front top side jn 455
right bottom cfd-pm11
1193724

crank 1193646 d4 ..??

oil pump ..?? 1194233 buick

waterpump 1192875 cfd..

also with the car came a 4 speed tranny mated to a corvette rear
corvette rear has castings of 14008656 with a
39876 under it

trany i think is a muncie ..? left side is

3851325
u.s patent 3088336

right side
G.M 3950306

right on top of the casing where it meets is a light stamping of 276 48 6531 .. ??

i wish someone out there know WHAT THIS IS .. ??

thanks all Corrado

hmm okay ..like i said ..i was told it was a mystery motor ..supposedlly only a few were made...i was also told it was a hi-perf version
with some goodies added by factory ..balanced ,blueprinted..,tolerances,clearances.valve lash...parts..??)i really dont know ..most people say it is a 215 which i have come to believe ..but what about this mystery or prototype..?? motor...

my block has been stamped JN 455 .. i think i came across somewhere that this was a hi perf stamp..??

i just would like to know if it is ..i dont want to buy parts that are not applicable or maybe screw up something.. ??

JN designates it as a 63 4bbl high performance 215. It had higher compression (11:1) vs. the 2bbl 215 (9:1). Check the years info under the Buicks.net logo above for more information on the 63 215.

I think you may have a T-10 trans, but there should be flange near the front stamped with some identification. It should start with a letter and is about 1/4" tall. If you can find those We can decode it for sure.
