I've gotten these numbers off my '64 Wildcat and I'd like to know what they mean.
VIN
44647062713
Other
Style: ????
Body Number: 413052
Paint: P
Trim 698
U63 A31A46A91B76
The VIN format indcates the car was built in Canada.
4= 1964 model year
46= Wildcat series
47= 2-door hardtop body
062713= sequential production number for this car
413052= sequential production number for this body
P= Teal Mist paint color
698= Black vinyl Custom interior (I believe it indicates bucket seat arrangement also)
U63....etc= Accessories supplied on the car--sorry I don't have the list to decode these.

Well I knew the car was made in Canada since there is a chrome piece on the trunk lid that says:
Young & Hamel
Pontiac Buick
Prince George BC
And since in Canadaa but thanks for the information. Do you know what the other numbers mean and what the Sytle number might be (It was covered up).
Oops, I knew some of the data would just be identifying obvious things! It was surprising to find that only some of the 64 full-size Buicks sold in Canada were built in Canada. Those include the Wildcats and non-wagon LeSabres. The rest were imported from the US.
The style number is a 4 digit number giving the series and body type. For your car it would be 4647 (which is just repeating the digits imbedded in the VIN).
The accessory codes are 3-character codes that specify as many as 3 or 4 options in one code. They are found on the dealership salesman's Wholesale Car Order Form. The salesman marks these off when entering the factory vehicle order. The coding system is concise and prevents the salesman from ordering incorrect combinations of options.
For example, X01 might be steel wheels with whitewall tires, X02 steel wheels with wide ovals, X03 chrome wheels with whitewalls, X04 chrome wheels with wide ovals etc. Absence of an X-- code here would mean steel wheels with blackwall tires. The combinations prevent ordering chrome wheels with blackwalls.
The Vintage Vehicle Services Dept. of GM Canada (1-877-467-6853) should be able to supply a data package on your car for $CDN 45-65. That would include the options supplied as it left the factory. For more details see one of the old posts in the Buick Tech section from 5-30-2001 entitled '71 Skylark rally wheels'.
The only other resource I know of for identifying the options would be the Sloan Museum in Flint, Michigan www.sloanmuseum.com (http://www.sloanmuseum.com) Again a charge would apply if they even have data on the Canadian-built Buicks.
