Hello,
first I'm sorry for my bad english!
I'm Gerald and come from Hannover, Germany.
Our problem: a friend of mine owns a Le Sabre 59, built in Canada. He knows that the engine ist not the original engine of 1959, but it is the same type.
We found some codes, but the code on the engine doesn't match with them.
The engine code is: B 250 422
We know that thr codes for '59 are 3F... and 4F...
Who can help us to id this engine!
Thank you very much for your help!
Gerald, the 58-64 Canadian Buick Parts book shows example engine serial numbers which are similar to the number you have found. There is no information to identify the year from the engine number however.
If you haven't tried it, look at the engine casting numbers on this site. Go to the homepage, click on SHOP, then click on Nailhead Casting Numbers.
For further decoding, we can look at the numbers on the engine accessories if they appear to be original. The distributor has the greatest chance of being original. Other parts to examine are the carburetor, generator, and starter.
If the engine uses an alternator or a PCV valve, that dates it to several years after 59.

Hello,
thank you very much for the informations!
We know that the engine is newer than 59. I forgot to write it at my first posting!
We found at the homepage the numbers, but no one ist matching with the one on his engine!Todd, you wrote "58-64 Canadian Buick Parts book". Wher I can get an example of this and how much does it cost. Or is it possible to get a copy of it or some parts of it?
Thank you
Gerald (and greeting from Fred, the owner of "The Car")

Rock 'n' roll is everywhere!
Hi Gerald and Fred, copies of the parts book or similar editions are available on ebay all the time. That is where mine came from. The price was about US$35. without shipping. The Canadian editions usually sell for less than the USA editions.
The complete book is quite large; it contains about 1000 pages. I can scan some pages for you to get a feeling of what it contains.

Hello Todd,
sorry for the long time i was offline!
We had a long time where are a lot of meetings, and now it becomes quiet!
We would be glad to get some scans of this book for first impression. Then we would try to get one book at ebay, if Fred thinks that book is a "must to have"!
Is it possible to get some scans????
regards Gerald
You can see what's currently at ebay by clicking on the "go" button near the bottom of this page.
Gerald,
I sent some example pages out tonight. They appeared to have made it through to your e-mail.
