I'm confused. Can someone clear this up for me? I have a 68 GS350. Had a 69 grille when I bought it. I'm putting a 68 grille back on it. My 68 assembly manual seems to indicate the 43437 series car (GS350) shares grilles with the Sportwagon Custom & the Special Deluxe 2d/4d and wagon. Is that right? Those model #'s, and 434, are listed with the diagram for the grille showing the Sportwagon nameplate and tri-shield emblem options. The grille part # is also on my grille, 1382087. On the next page, the grille shown has a GS emblem, and is part # 1381846, but specifies only model series 446, which is GS400. But on the side it shows the "GS" emblem mounting, and lists, for 446 & 43437. I'm also convinced of this because my grille has notches in the driver's side where the long "Sportwagon" emblem would mount if at the factory it was going on the wagon. Can anyone with an original grille on their 68 GS350 verify what the correct grille part # should be? I was convinced, and told, this grille is a GS grille, and maybe it really is, for the 350, but not the GS400???? Why wouldn't the GS350 and GS400 have identical grilles, with the same part #? Am I reading the manual incorrectly? Or is the manual screwed up??? Help!!

David, the 1964-70 Buick Special Parts Catalogue shows 3 grille part numbers used on 68 intermediate-size cars.

#9714901 was used on the Special Deluxe 433xx models, the Special Deluxe wagon 43435, and the SportWagons 44455 and 44465. It uses the tri-shield ornament package and has provisions for the SportWagon nameplate package. This appears to be equivalent to the 1382087, maybe a supercedure number.

#1381846 was used on the Gran Sport 350 model 43437 and Gran Sport 400 models 44637 and 44667. It uses the Gran Sport monogram package, but not the tri-shield ornament package.

#1381937 was used on the Skylark 435xx models and the Skylark Custom 444xx models (excpet the SportWagons). It uses the tri-shield ornament package.

It is easy to get confused on the 434xx series models. The only two, the 43435 and 43437 don't seem to belong together.

Although this parts book is from Canada, it indicates all the GS carss, the wagons, and the convertibles were imported.
