Can anyone decipher this cowl tag info:

12C 9291
ST 68-43437 KAN 371 BODY
TR 111-A- F6 PAINT

The 1968 page doesn't have info for paint codes still. I know it's a 1968 and 43437 is the model for my GS350 coupe, but what is the 12C 9291 TR 111-A- and 371 F6 ?? In particular I want to identify the body color and vinyl top color. Thanks - david g

12C is the time built code. 12=December,C=3rd week of the month.
9291 - don't know
KAN=assembly plant-Kansas City
371=body serial number
TR=trim
111=interior trim materials & color code-?
A=seat type-?
F=body color-Teal Blue Mist (Lt. blue metallic)
6=vinyl top color-Parchment

I don't have the code list for the trim or the seat type. Going by the sales catalog and paint chip chart, the possibilities are fairly limited on the GS350 that year.

Not considering exterior color compatability, the sales catalog shows the GS350 was available with all-vinyl bench seats in blue, parchment, or black. The optional seating was all-vinyl buckets in white, black, blue, buckskin, platinum.

These interior choices wre limited further once the exterior color was chosen. The paint chip chart shows only the following interior colors available for Teal Blue Mist paint- blue, parchment, white, black.

Added: A guy I work with sifted through his old early 80's muscle car magazines and found some great articles on the 68-72 GS, including great photos showing where to find various id numbers and decoding info for VIN and engine block/tranny #'s. Looks like I should be on the right track.
