My tranny went out, so to save money and since I have done this job before I decided to do the job myself. I have came to a problem, the cable that connects to the carbuerator, I can not get it off the hook. I got the black cover off without breaking it. So how do you get the cable off the hook or would it be better to disconnect it form the carbuerator?

What you need to need to do is pull on that black piece of plastic as far upwards as you can until the hook sticks out of the case. Then use your other hand to hold it out and remove it. If for some reason it still doesn't come out, don't stress about it too much.
If that cable has never been replaced, then the plastic adjuster near the carb is probably siezed, which means you need to replace the cable assembly, otherwise it will shorten the life of your new trans, due to a bad adjustment.
I think a new cable is only 30-40 from the dealer, and it's definatly a worthwhile investment if you're replacing your trans.
Good luck,
Ben
