I own a 1967 Skylark. It currently has a 300V8 and a 2 speed auto. I wish to replace the tired motor with a 350 chevy and a 4-speed muncie. Is this worth the effort? What suprises will I encounter? Or am I just off my rocker???

The real deal is that the 300 isn't that terriffic of a motor, and the 2-speed isn't so great either. Is this blasphemy??

Pardon the spelling, I am an Engineer...

Ps. This car is a one owner (grandfather now passed away) and has 70K miles on it, 2-door hardtop blue with a white top. Should I bastardize it? Or can I get parts for this beauty and make it a driver??

Thanks!
Todd

I've been able to find just about anything needed mechanically to completely rebuild my 64' 300 engine without much difficulty. Performance parts are a little harder to find though admittedly. It took me a few months to hunt down a 4bbl manifold & headers. Performance Cam, Springs & lifters are available from Crower or Comp. 9:1 Pistons from dynagear (Part #P367)

If you're going to swap engines, it would probably be less work & hassle to put in a 350 buick or even 455 buick as the motor mount brackets are available aftermarket.

For the 4 speed swap you'll need pedals, linkage, shifter, brackets, bellhousing, trans, etc. I've heard the 67' pedals are one-year only, so good luck there - easier maybe to go with an auto.

I'm in the process of doing this myself on my '64 (almost complete). I'm into the trans swap for about $500 not including the trans.
