I am wondering how to hook up a brake pedal switch to my 1964 Chevy Impala so that I can put a 200R4 transmission out of a 1985 Buick Grand National into it. I need to know what all I need to do in order to make the lock-up torque converter function properly because my Impala did not come stock with a lock-up torque converter. Does anyone have any ideas? Please e-mail me if you do.

First of all, a 200-4R will not bolt into your Impala unless you have a Buick Olds or Pontiac motor in there now. Use a 700-R4. The lock up torque convertor function can be accomplished via a brake light switch from, say, an 85 Buick Regal with cruise control. The extra pair of terminals on this switch can be used to unlock the convertor with the proper wiring.

Hey Buickdude, didn't the 200R4 in 85 have a "Dual pattern" belhousing like the TH350s with both Chevy and BOP?

It seems I've heard of a universal bolt pattern 200-4R but I've never actually seen one. If one could be found it would be much easier to adapt to a '64 Impala than a 700-R4

I used the lock up system from TCI on my 200 and it is the easy way out.
