time to replace the carb on my 322 , should i just get another carter or go for the holley any comments?

Only drawback to the holley I can think of is the loss of the gas pedal start. What carter model are you currently running?

Holleys are horrible.
On my 364, I bought it with a Holley and I get 7.5-8 MPG. Getting rid of that piece of crap for an original equipment carb is my next project.

Holleys are my favorite, but they are all good. If you make a good choice, for a stock engine your new carb should be good right out of the box.

You might like to look at things like vacuum and mechanical advance before buying a new carb. You are wise to move to an original equipment carb. Many people with your complaint replace their carb only to find the same kind of milage. Eventually the problem is often found in the distributor.

Personally, I'd go with a Edelbrock carb, based on the Carter AFB...
