I need to know if the ring gear placement on the crank of a 425 nailhead is crutial. I have recently changed a broken ring gear. I hoped to solve a engin shake The shake was evedent before and after this repair. The engine and tranny were purchased as a unsepreated set and were never taken apart befor install. the shake has always been there. This shake is more evedent on the highway and if the trans is put in neutral the shake goes away untill the rpm's are brought back up . Could this placement cause this? How are these cranks balanced?

The flexplate or flywheel is balanced in-sync with the rest of the rotating mass. There is a "pilot" hole between two bolt holes on the flexplate and a coresponding "pilot" hole between two bolt threads on the crank. They must both line up with one another. If not, out of balance.
