Welcome to Buicks net!
and yes there are some pretty knowlegable people who will help wherever we can here.
starting heuh?
well for starters ask yourself a truckload of questions, what do I intend to do with this car? is it a keeper? or just a have fun for a while kinda car? how much work do I intend to do myself? how much work CAN you do yourself? howfar do I want to take this restoration? total frame off resto or just get it deasant again?
to comfort you let me tell ya, ten years ago I knew NOTHING about cars (hell I even could'nd do an oil change)Now, I have in total 9 cars and am buzy restoring number 3 and I do it ALL! paint, body, engine everything! (cause 1) I don't really trust those overpriced proffesionals, 2)I don't have the $ to have the work done, and 3)I enjoy working on my cars!
So no knowledge ain't an excuse in my view, wonderfull thing about humans is the abillity to learn and so did I.
visit some other peoples websites to see how they do it. you can visit mine with the link below.
(hey now a personnel add is alowed! especially when you are the moderator of restoration talk :D )
no talk just plenty of pictures!
I think you will get an idea of the work involved in retoring a car and who knows, maybe you will like it just as much as me!
But before you start tearing appart that car BUY A MANUAL!!! I can't emphesize enough how important this is.
now get comfy and ask plenty of questions, remember there is no such thing as a "dumb" question, how can you be dumb if you are smart enough to ask them.

Thnx, along with yourself i have been told by tons of people to get a manual...i bought a revised shop manual on ebay and i sent the payment away today, the most important thing to me is to get my guges to work...i have no...i repeat no, gas gauge, speedometer, or odometer....the car is already in decent shape by my standards...then again i'm new to this and it could be shot in someone elses eyes...i used to be into the whole import scene...not anymore...Classics are just that; a CLASSIC piece of automotive history....and i can say i'm one of the proudest owners of a 1960 buick lesabre!!
