Can anyone recommend a good book on modifiying or building frames?

I'm just dreamin' The least I want to do is change a front clip on a '52. I would like to build something though. I was at a swapmeet a few weeks back and was looking at some hot rod frames. The guy selling them indicated that they were just build from mild steel! I would have thought they would have used t-100 or something, but maybe not.

Another point is around these parts I don't believe you are alowed to weld between the spring hangers, that probably refers more to a joint like you would create when shortening a pickup or ? While I am sure there is not reason not to weld, especially if the frame material is mild steel, or for that matter t-100 I would like to see some proper instructions. I have been watching the rear tubing in your car an thinking what the heck, just do it.
