I'm trying to install a dual master cylinder in my 63 Skylark, and am having a problem with clearance at the firewall. Would it be okay to lengthen the studs and add a spacer to move the MC forward about a half inch? Right now I can't remove the cover because the wiper motor is in the way. This is a manual brake set up. The master cylinder I am using is the Corvette-type for drum brakes.

i seriously doubt it.

the actuating rod that connects the brake pedal to the master cylinder isn't designed for that extra length and is going to put your brake pedal nearer to the floor than it should be.

of course, if you fabricate a new rod out of something, you should be good to go.

I had to find a new actuating rod, and it's about 11"long and ajustable. I always like a second opinion. Thanks
