I'am surching for the right Ignitor (contactless Ignition without points) to install in my '49 Super Sedanet. Has anybody experience and can help me with brand and type ? Thanks a lot and greetings from Germany.

The first question is, are you running 6 or 12 volts in the electrical system? Many are available for one that has been converted to 12 volts, and the one conversion that I have used is Pertronics. Not sure what's out there for a 6 volt system. I had to use a setup for a nailhead distributor as I couldn't find a listing for a straight 8. Hope this helps. Doug:D

pertronix also makes a 6v version

I have used a Pertronix 6 volt ignitor in my '39 248 cu.in. engine for several years with no problems.

I have had both 6 & 12 volt Pertronix units in my Buicks and they work great.
