anyways i just got my 1956 buick special on the road, just lowered it properly, its basically late 60's style car so alot isnt stock anymore,
anyways running the stock motor and 2spd, so question number one reverse is a hard gear to get into and clunks a lil i guess would be the word, anyone have any experience with this with a decent fix? i have a source for another trans and ill rebuild it before i install but just wondering so i can have no worries till i park it for winter,

okay question number 2, yeah the retarded master is in this car, has anyone retrofitted a willwood or bear master? if so what one and with how much work was it? or has anyone done a mustang 2 master,
i work at a rod shop but this being my first buick just wondering as this is my daily driver how much downtime i should plan for,

also i was wondering what the stock fuel guage ohm rating is if anyone knows, guy who did the car before did a fuel cell and well doesnt read anything except full

also is a 1955 buick master the same as the 1956,
ive been reading people say the 55 master is under the floor board, mine is on the firewall,
i have sourced a master from a 55 buick but would hate to have it shipped here and be wrong

That depends on where at the firwall your 56 master is. If it is very high on the fire wall, like on modern cars, it is not stock and has been replaced already. Stock original master is very low on the fire wall on frame height (cannot really see it from anywhere as view is blocked by steering-column from top and by starter-splash-pan from below). Push rod is actuated directly by the pedal plate.
55 and 56 cannot replace each other - 56 is a one-year-application ! 55 was different and 57 is all new all over again, too (57 finally brought master up to a high mounting position on the firewall !)

1956 buick special :mine was on the toe board, 1 year master cylinder 1956 only 1955 is under floor they do not interchange. I installed a power master on fire wall ,it is a lot of work. you will need to buy swing pedal assembly plus master I removed the bubbles on both sides and made drains for the air intake under the windshield. I have to modify my left innner fender as well . Installed after market heater and a/c closed off air intake and drains from factory these are under the bubbles on both sides of engine. Have Fun !!!!! have any questiona please e-mail:bana:

Master and Booster were from a 90's Mustang. It is an 8" dual diaphram Booster. I also used a GM porportioning valve. I took the big bubble air box off and used it for a template to make a flat plate for the firewall. I then used a universal swing pedal assembly from No Limit Engineering, here in San Bernardino for the inside. It had to be modified slightly to clear the column, but that was some minor heating and bending.

Hi everybody,

I had a longer email conversation with Anwar from Brake Tech Solutions http://www.braketechsolutions.com/BTSV101/Index.php

Anwar thinks, he can supply me with a Power dual master for an all-drum-setup of my 1956 Buick that would be a bolt-on-application.

As all you 1956 Buick-folks know, 1956 Buick Power Brake Unit is an extreeemely tight squeeze in the original location and it is hard to take pictures for somebody else to judge the available room. From the pictures I was able to send, Anwar thought he has one that can be fit in, but that were Buicks with the front clip partly disassembled (mainly w/o the wheel house).

What do you think ? Do you know anybody, who actually has fit in a dual master at the original location ?

Thanks and best regards
Maikl

well just a update on stuff, i know its probably of no interest to anyone but if there is someone interested then here,
anyways i work at a rod shop up here in canada and we specialize in mustang 2 front end setups, anyways im just finishing up the air ride in my caprice so i can park this big buick in my garage, since my rear main is leaking bad and the tranmission is leaking and very unhappy,
we decided (me and my girlfriend) decided to put my old 700r out of my race car and build a very mild sbc and do a open driveline, but as im gonna have the whole front end off to make the swap easier gonna be 99% doing a mustang 2 front clip, now would anyone else be interested in a clip? if so ill setup a jig while im doing this so i can repeat the procedure,

so alot of people might disagree with what im doing but the car is not stock its fully shaved its my daily driver and gonna be my main highway driver come spring time, so modern drivetrain is a must cause well everything breaks down,

so heres a question for the open driveline people so i dont have to run threw the wrecking yard measuring up widths, what rear end are you using out of what kinda car? i read around one person used a 9inch but car or truck? and one guy did a nova rear?

anyways thank you very much for everyone who has offered help, as this is a new project as i just finished my model A and wanna bang away on this hard over winter
