I need new rear axel seals for my 1936 special and am having a hard time locating them. Does anybody know of any suppliers for the original felt seals or of a substitute part that might be more easily found?
Thanks,
Jeff

Have you tried "cars"?... http://www.buick-parts.com/
or Buick farm?... http://www.buickfarm.com/
Good luck and let me know where you find it. We need some parts for a 34 Buick at my work.

Yes, I tried those two and several others but with no success. I also asked at Buick Club of America and the best reply was that Greg had found some on Ebay once but that was about it.
Greg had suggested getting some industrial felt and cutting a part but I didn't think I could make a felt washer accurate enough. I received two other suggestions. One was to take the part to someplace that has a lot of seals and see if I could find a modern replacement that way. Another idea was to just use a strip of felt that was the width of the felt seal and wrap it around the axle until the built up size was the correct outside dimension of the felt seal. I am leaning toward trying this latest suggestion but of course if anybody knows of an equivalent modern part I would use that first.
