Hey everybody, a buddy of mine has a 1982 Grand National sitting in his garage and it has the original 4.1 in it. He is considering molestering it with a SBC 383. Any ideas if it is worth me trying to save from such a life? I am curious as to its value, He was telling me there were only 215 of them built and I thought he was bs'ing me, turns out he is right. I have considered coming up with a crapmaro or something else to try to trade him for the car and just need to know if I should lay out the greenbacks for it.
Thanks in advance everybody, Chip.

MAN THATS A NO BRAINER! GET IT! at least if kept stock it wont depreciate, and i think it would be more fun to blow off SBC,s with.

That is what I was thinking after I realized the limited production of the car. Now to talk him out of it.

the 4.1 is the normally aspirated, correct?
usually it's only the performance or luxury cars that ever really have any collector value but the 'Grand National' name plate does have quite a bit of cachet.
i say, get an 86-87 turbo setup and slap it on there. you'll lay waste to anything he could have hoped to do with a SBC.

It isn't a turbo car and if I were to get it, I would keep it stone stock. I shouldn't even be thinking like this with all the other things I have going on. I haven't even taken my Special for a real drive yet. If I can talk him into parting with it, it just might get posted on here.

He swears he isn't going to part with it and is determined to install the 383. I look for it to sit til doomsday or somebody comes up with something he wants more.
