Hey man! I have a '53 Special as well that is currently in the process of being hotrodded. As far as engine size: that straight-8 is a 263 or 264, something like that. What condition is yours? Need any parts? Since I'm not doing a full resto back to original condition on mine, there's a lot of parts that are being pulled off that we're not using. If you need anything, let me know.

Here's what we're doing to mine: Pull out the worn-out straight-8, Buick 3-speed tranny and torque-tube rear and drop in a 1970 Oldsmobile 455, TH-350 tranny and a GM 12-bolt rear-end out of a '67 Chevy half-ton pickup. Car will have a new wiring harness, disc brakes up front, drums in back; coil spring suspension in rear, stock lever-action shocks up front; stock steering; electric wiper/washer motor and pump; stock gauges, stock heaters. She'll be one evil car when I get her done.
