my 49 is in the shop. while it was on the hoist i decided to look around and take pictures. on the front end there is a bar that goes across(its about 1/2" around")and it connects to two little rods with bushing. on one side the connectiong rod is broken and hanging on the other the bushings are just bad and warren out. anyone know where to find new bushing and connectiong rods? for the stabilizer...thats what it is right? ill post pics later.

Not really critical to get exact parts- there is a set of stabilizer links bushing kits for sale on Ebay (I search under 62 Buick or Skylark) for $17.95 and you get bushings, spacers, washers, and bolts. The only thing is, the bolts may be the wrong length, so save the one you have to match up. Unless your bushings are radically different, these should solve the problem. These particular kits use about a 1 1/4" bushing, as most of GM did for years. Hope this helps.

I got a kit with the stabelizer bushings from Buick World in Washington state. I've had some problems getting parts in a timely manner from them, but here is their # if you want to try them. (360) 825.3787 I would suggest that you make sure they have it in stock before you order though.

I got mine from Jackson's old Time Auto Parts in MN.

They do participate on E-Bay.

Napa or Autozone sell kits. Autozone has a generic red urethane set that I used on my Desoto and it works great!!

Here's a set from Napa for a '49 Roadmaster... (http://napaonline.com/masterpages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=470&LineCode=NCP&PartNumber=2651206&Description=Sway+Bar+Repair+Kit+-+Front+Suspension)
