I just bought a 1949 Buick Super 50, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any sites or if anyone has knowledge about dropping a 454, 455, or possibly a 502 in it. I have seen a few done with the Roadmasters, but looking at their specs, the car sizes aren't completely the same.

Mainly I just want to know if I'm going to have to start chopping and cutting to fit the above, and if motor mounts for the conversion already exist some where.

Also, anyone have a recommendation for a replacement front clip, if needed?

Thankyou,
K.M.

The main change between a Super and a Roadmaster is the length of the engine compartment, and even the "short" Super is more than long enough. So if you are prepared to do what is neccessary to refit a RM, it will be the same for your Super.

Hope you choose a 455, but maybe you should consider a more nostalgic "nailhead"?

I used a front clip from a '75 Skylark in my '48 Roadmaster. This the same as a Nova clip-exactly. The car handles extremely well and I think it would work equally well in your '49. I used a nailhead for power and I would highly recommend it for your car.
