Description:
|
The Electra 225 was Buick's top of the line full-size model, and was offered as a 2- or 4-door hardtop or the top of the range convertible. 1970 was the last year for the Electra convertible, and the entire Electra lineup was redesigned for 1971, at which time GM ceased production of full-size convertibles. In its final year, only 6,045 Electra convertibles were produced, the second least productive year for the convertible in its entire 12-year history. For 1970, the Electra received different front-end styling than the '69, and all Electras were powered by GM's 370-hp 455 cubic inch V8. Also standard was an automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes, while the convertible came standard with power windows and a 2-way power seat & air conditioning.
This car has some history as told by former owner, the car was used in a bank robbery in Atlanta, car was put in impound for years, then later sold at auction, around 1986, It was purchased by a doctor & used locally for a few years, then put back in storage. He would never let the family sell the car as long as he lived.
I purchased the car from the estate & restored back to original as close as possible, It didn't need that much but was weathered & faded. Car was repainted to original color (sherwood green) using base clear coat, new black convertible top, new seals on doors windows & trunk. The electric windows & top were repaired & work like new. Many other parts were replaced, it has new tires, shocks, brakes, exhaust system, belts, hoses, tune up, battery, fuel filter, Buick rally wheels were added (not original on this car) and too many small parts to mention. The pictures are showing some reflections that may be missleading, the paint is new base clear coat and very shinny, & reflects everything !
This is a beautiful survivor ! That as been refurbished with tender loving care. If you love old Buicks as I do, you dont want to miss this one.
